The Project is located in an existing condo in La Planicie, overlooking the Golf. Importantly, one of the family members is disabled, so the project should not have any barriers and integrate the lives of others, without altering the aesthetics and function. All in equal conditions. The project is articulated through a 1.50 axle wide circulation, containing all functions in two volumes. The first volume, a strip running the length of the field, adding a second volume containing double height social area and expansion of the terrace.
The house is located in an agricultural property with 50ha in Vila Boim, Alentejo. Alentejo’s landscape is primarily composed by soft rolling hills and plains, with cork oaks and olive trees, or the occasional vine. Northern Alentejo’s agriculture is mostly livestock-based as typified by cows, sheep, and pigs. To the south the agriculture is mostly arable. The brief was simple: – A weekend house where throughout the summer and winter, the family could enjoy the beauty of this vast natural landscape. The main house has only one floor in a “U” shape. The U has its back facing against the slope, creating an inner courtyard.
At the end of 2012 Unilever decided to center all European Category Marketing Teams at the Head Office at Weena in Rotterdam, creating a true ‘Brand Hub Europe’. A challenging transformation was called for and within an equally challenging timeframe. The new interior represents the creative diversity of the company brands and its employees. It enables dynamic work processes, integration of test areas, brand experience areas, kitchens and mini laboratories. Colorful brand- or meeting area’s are spread like pebbles around a dark blue core.
